What's up at the MYGEMS Science Center?
The MYGEMS Science Center and staff would like to say thank you to all of the wonderful organizations that sponsored the hands-on science events during 2007. With less than two months to go in 2008, MYGEMS is continuing to grow. We have expanded our programs and are offering in- house as well as community based programs.
We opened up the MYGEMS Science Center on March 17, 2007 but have provided our services since we began in our home in 2001. We have had a very successful year and will continue to, because of the tremendous amount of support our parents, community leaders, schools, youth organizations and children have shown us. We could not have done this without all of your support. Our children continue to showe an ingeneous spark in science because of YOU!
We have provided hands-on science activities to over 200 schools, churches and youth groups and organizations. Here is just a partial list of our past and current clients.
There were also numerous people, businesses and organizations that were instrumental in providing monetary donations so that more than a thousand children could partake in the activities that we had this year. We would like to acknowledge everyone by saying "THANK YOU"! Although we received various donations throughout the year, many of those donors would like to remain private and we will respect their request.
THANK YOU to EVERYONE WHO CONTINUE TO HELP MAKE MYGEMS a great success !
-Tabelech K. Shipp, MYGEMS Founder and Director

Afterschool Science Club Membership Program
Would you like to spark the interest of science to your child or teachers would you like to help your students embrace science in a fun way, while preparing them for the North Carolina Science EOGs? If you answered yes, then the MYGEMS Science Center has the remedy for you. This Afterschool Science Club allow children the opportunity to tinker in our center instead of trying to turn your kitchen into a laboratory. Registration is on going. The prices start as low as the cost of a movie ticket with popcorn for one class. Call us for more information. We will have weekly science projects that your child will complete while in our Afterschool Science Club.
This is an after school program that will allow students in grades 3-5 to enroll in a 6 week science enrichment class once a week for one hour and a half to complete several hands on science activities that stimulate both their mind and kinesthetic skills in various subject areas of science. (i.e. astronomy, biology, chemistry, forensics, physics, etc.) The time of the class would be broken down into two segments: 1 hour of hands-on science time and 30 minutes on science EOG preparatory skills.
Enrollment for our Spring Sessions will start in January 2009.
