MYGEMS is a science educational organization that was founded in 2001 with the purpose that all children could learn to love science as a result of gaining empowerment and motivation, with excitement and confidence from various individuals who impart knowledge within a child’s life, relative to science.

This program came into fruition, as a result of former high school science teacher and founder of MYGEMS , Tabelech Shipp, began to see where many students deem science to be boring and hard, yet on the other hand, there are a lot of students who have an appreciation for science because of the solid foundation that was built before them, as early as elementary school. From biology to bioengineering, cooking to chemistry, and tadpoles to telescopes, students can be exposed at an early age to mathematics and science, in order to gain a better appreciation for them. Every experience can easily be turned into a science lesson.

MYGEMS is both an enriching and unique educational science program that offers excitement to the children in an entertaining, yet educational format . MYGEMS shows compassion for all diverse learners by exploring ways of enriching science education for all.

In 2007, MYGEMS expanded to open up the MYGEMS Science Center of Concord where Mayor Scott Padgett and Councilwoman Ella Small endorsed our science education programs with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
