MYGEMS designed this scientific enrichment program based upon the North Carolina Standard Course of Study or for those families that are homeschooling their children, MYGEMS will design a course specific to your needs. The programs that are offered to schools, parents, churches, after school programs, day care centers and community centers are all great places to explore the wonders of science. MYGEMS is a hands-on activity oriented organization that is designed to meet your needs.
These programs allow all students, parents and others to explore science using hands-on learning and engaging in an exciting, yet uncomplicated manner, which can also be done at home.

Fantastic Fridays during the fall!
The schedule for classes begins on Friday, September 12th for parents, preschools, homeschools, and other organizations that would like to participate in all of the fun and excitement with science experiments. Our programs are scheduled for every week until Friday, December 5th.
All day care providers, preschools, homeschools, babysitters and even parents of children ages 3 and up are invited to attend either a one hour or 1.5 hour session with T.K. the Chemist. They will be treated with fun, excitement and laughter.
You come to us, then:
The cost is only $6.50 per child for groups of 10 or more children. Less than 10 children, the price is $8.00 per child. If you would like to add another package or allow your group to watch a short science film, then there is an additional cost of $3.50 per child.
We come to you, then:
The cost is only $7.00 per child for groups of 10 children or more. Less than 10 children, you will be billed at the rate of $100.00. If you would like to add another package, then there is an additional cost of $3.50 per child.

Need Lunch? Just add $4.00 per child. You have a choice of either:

If you prefer to bring your groups' lunch, please let us know so that we are able to allocate a 30 minute lunch period for your group. Your group will be charged a $75 clean up fee if the center is left in deplorable conditions. Please make sure that your group pick up all trash, napkins, milk/drink cartons, etc. after lunch.

How to register your class? To guarantee group rates and great educational experiences, please call us at least 2 weeks in advance of your visit. Be sure to have the following information ready:

Friday Night Science Program
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Children ages 7-12 can enjoy an evening of fun and exciting hands science activities at the MYGEMS Science Center while the parents are out having fun of their own. Boy/Girl Scouts, Church youth groups and other youth organizations can spend the evening at the MYGEMS Science Center also. They will enjoy all of the following activities for only $15.00 per person (siblings and youth group organizations pay only $12.00)
Note: All parents are required to sign in/sign out your child or group. No exceptions! You must also be on time for the program so we will not run over time and the children can enjoy their entire evening. We value your time so please have them present no later than 6:10 pm.
This fee covers:
Hands-on science activities/demonstrations
Watch a science movie
Science games
Hot dogs or pizza
a drink (juice or bottled water)
Parents, if your child has food allergies, please notify the staff of the MYGEMS Science Center.
Payments for any of these events are due the Thursday before the scheduled Friday night event. If the classes have not filled up by the close of the business day on Thursday, then the Friday Night Science Class will be cancelled. Refunds will be given to cancelled classes but not for missed sessions. You can apply the day missed to a follow up class within one week. Pre-registration can be done either by email: TKTHECHEMIST@MYGEMSFORKIDS.COM or come by the center during our hours of operation to register your child(ren) or group. *All programs require pre-registration by the Thursday of the scheduled Friday Night Science Program. Drop-Ins are welcomed, but the fee increases to $20 per child.
Parents get ready for our Winter Friday Night Science Program in December. We will also have Winter Science Camps for children who want to get out the house and have fun with science experiments. We will also have our Parents Day Out Program for those of you who have last minute shopping to do during the holidays!
We will post our December schedule no later than November 21st.
You may pre-register your child or group online, but payment must be made at least two weeks prior to the registered date and time. You may mail your payment to MYGEMS, P.O. Box 5920, Concord, NC 28027.

Your group can choose from an assortment of programs to meet the needs of your organization. Some of the programs are designed for school aged groups of fewer than 25 participants while other groups may want an assembly which will accomodate 150 students. Toxic Chemicals
You will carry out a series of chemical and physical tests on a series of white powders, one of which represents a hazardous material. You will identify the “mystery spill”.

Life in the pond
Examine water samples from the lake or pond for life through a microscope. Then conduct a water quality test for pH, total water hardness, and alkalinity.
